The 63rd Circle Time: The Show and Tell Weekly Thread

Show and Tell is wasted on elementary schoolers. Join several dozen bloggers weekly to show off an item, tell a story, and get the attention of the class. In other words, this is Show and Tell 2.0. Everyone is welcome to join, even if you have never posted before and just found out about Show and Tell for the first time today. So yank out a photo of the worst bridesmaid's dress you ever wore and tell us the story; show off the homemade soup you cooked last night; or tell us all about the scarf you made for your first knitting project. Details on how to participate are located at the bottom of this post.

Let's begin.

Josh wanted me to make this my Show and Tell this week so much that he asked me twice and then edged the piece of paper into my line of vision three separate times. It finally ended up on my desk. I intended my Show and Tell to be a fantastic piece of junk mail that I received this week, but when I said that to Josh, he looked at me incredulously and said, "you're not making my score card your Show and Tell?"

I love this man. He flew me to Chicago so I wouldn't have to go alone, and let me squeeze all the blood out of his hand on the flight. He let me read that keynote piece while he was in the room. He deserves to have the majority of my Show and Tell space.

Josh wants you to know that he went to a Cubs game and the Cubs won and he scored the whole thing on his score card. And he was really damn cute about it.

And for those who wanted to see the keynote, it will be a few weeks until the BlogHer video which will hopefully show why people whistled (achem), but I am so grateful to We Blog the World for catching it on film now and uploading it to YouTube.

What are you showing today?

Click here or scroll down to the bottom of this post if this is your first time joining along (Important: link to the permalink for the post, not the main url for your blog and use your blog's name, not your name. Links not going to a Show and Tell post will be deleted). The list is open from now until late Friday night and a new one is posted every week.

Other People Standing at the Head of the Class:

Want to bring something to Show and Tell?
  • If you would like to join circle time and show something to the class, simply post each Wednesday night (or any time between Wednesday morning and Friday night), hopefully including a picture if possible, and telling us about your item. It can be anything--a photo from a trip, a picture of the dress you bought this week, a random image from an old yearbook showing a person you miss. It doesn't need to contain a picture if you can't get a picture--you can simply tell a story about a single item. The list opens every Wednesday night and closes on Friday night.
  • You must mention Show and Tell and include a link back to this post in your post so people can find the rest of the class. This spreads new readership around through the list. This is now required.
  • Label your post "Show and Tell" each week and then come back here and add the permalink for the post via the Mr. Linky feature (not your blog's main url--use the permalink for your specific Show and Tell post).
  • Oh, and then the point is that you click through all of your classmates and see what they are showing this week. And everyone loves a good "ooooh" and "aaaah" and to be queen (or king) of the playground for five minutes so leave them a comment if you can.
  • Did you post a link and now it's missing?: I reserve the right to delete any links that are not leading to a Show and Tell post or are the blogging equivalent of a spitball.

I don't know much about baseball, but from what I can tell, it's pretty impressive. And he's pretty cute.

I watched the video on WBTW, and LOVED it. You rocked the house, not that I expected anything less.

Can't wait for the other version, though ;-)

I read the post and loved it. I heard you read it and bawled. Amazing job, Mel.

Not a Cubs game?! He was on the wrong side of town, White Sox all the way!

I will have to wait until having a better internet connection to see the video--but I read your speech the other day. No idea at the time that Josh was in the audience! No wonder you showed his scorecard... :)

Pretty cute how excited he was about it, too.

Tell Josh I am duly impressed and I'm going to watch your video later when Gabe is asleep so I can hear it.

Mel,

That video was amazing and so real.... Sadly we have all had moments similar to that... You look great and you are an amazing lady! Thank you from every woman who has been there maybe not dressed like Hildi... but been in that predicament... witnessing their husband do things we should never see! ;)

That was even better than I imagined! Lolli, that was amazing!

Oh yeah, and Josh co cool, that score card, wow! (What the heck is a score card? You write down what is happening? Um, why?) But, way to go... (is this even remotely believable?) really, cool.

You are amazing! You take such a heart wrenching subject and make it real and funny and even sexy. Not many women would have the nerve to get up there and tell that story the way you did. I loved the story each time I've read it but hearing it in your voice, hearing your voice crack and catch, adds a power that the written word can not convey alone. Wow!

I took a bunch of pictures at my Beloved's high school reunion this weekend and he was the same way... "are you going to use that for S&T?" and then when I didn't there was a modicum of pouting. Too funny!

Perfection. Your speech made me laugh and cry within the same sentence.

I thank you for being you Lolli and thank you for coming into the world of IF blogging, you are one special lady indeed. And i know I have said this before, but you are so supa cute girl!

Cubs?!?! I'm with Carrie27 - WRONG SIDE OF TOWN!!!! White Sox definitely! Here's my baseball story, for Josh. Whenever anyone in my family watches a Chicago team (any sport) play, they almost always lose. We are such rabid White Sox fans (and anti-Cubs) that when my dad was retired, he would watch the Cubs play every day, just so he could bring the family magic on them and make them lose. So, if they had a horrible record in the late 80's, you can thank my dad!

I can't wait to watch the video - but I'll have to do it at home instead of at work!

How sweet is that, Josh wanting all us to see his score card. I Promise I'll go watch the video when I'm not trying to climb into bed.

Wow! Having read your story twice now, I wasn't prepared for how funny and moving it would be to hear you tell in your own voice. I alternated laughter and tears many times throughout watching the video and it was great to hear the audience's reaction to what you were saying as well.

As for Josh's Cubs game scorecard! GO JOSH GO! As a life long Cubs fan who was taught at a young age how to keep score on a card very similar to that at Wrigley Field I can appreciate why he is proud. We took Sean to his first Cubs game this spring with my parents, sister and brother-in-law and my mom/Sean's grandma kept score that day and began to teach Sean how to do it too. GO CUBS GO!

Josh is pretty cute, and not just because he lets little V grab his goatee and yank.

I finally got the chance to watch this (I didn't think I should be watching it at my parents house, lol.) It's hilarious when read on the page, but to hear you read it in your own voice had tears rolling down my cheeks, first because I was laughing so hard and then because I was so moved. Bravo!!
