Melissa's Law

Cleaning out a purse and discarding a semi-crushed tampon prior to leaving the house will bring about the end of your cycle by the time you are exactly 45 minutes away from home and about to enter an hour-long meeting.

In teaching, we were always coached that when speaking to parents, you should "sandwich" the difficult information one needed to impart. In other words, if little Larry was failing my English class, I would sit down with the parents and say, "you know, Larry is so creative. I love that comic book he's always working on while I'm trying to discuss Candide. At times I think he's a bit distracted. After all, he is failing my class. But his comic books are amazing and you should really look into having him take a class this summer at an art school."

I think the negative information is obvious, but I would like to take this moment to sandwich it between the positive accomplishments of this month. Sans progesterone, my little luteal phase, which usually conks out between seven and ten days, has made it all the way to twelve this month. And frankly, I'm proud of something going right without medical intervention. Even if this only occurs once every two or three years, it is still worth pointing out.

And on that note, I am going to go collapse into bed. I'm adding in links as quickly as I can. Promise to have more up tomorrow. So keep checking the list because links are coming in all the time. And if you see favourite blogs missing from the list, encourage friends to send me a link so I can include them. I'm not adding people without their expressed permission.

Throwing away the tampon is up there with buying a pregnancy test and wearing your favorite underwear!

Three cheers for your 12-day luteal phase! Hip-hip-hooray! It's the little victories that win the war.

Hurrah for twelve day luteal phases! What was it about December? (Mine was longer than usual, too - I was about to post up some cycle news stating same.)

Sounds like you should rest up now.

Yaaay for your luteal phase!
As for throwing away the tampon, I've tried the reverse on my body to no avail...buy a huge box just before a pregnancy test! (I think i've gone through them all, might be time to try it again!)

Oh you don't know how relieved I am to read about your short luteal phase. And you have twins. Ok, I cannot have twins due to my iffy cervix but you have given me hope that even with my short LP, there is still hope. I will think of that next time I lie awake worrying about my short cycles. And congratulations on the 12 days, go body go! The other day I thought that maybe we are not infertile, maybe we just have very different cycles from the average women and maybe for our bodies this IS normal. And so speaks someone who has been trying to fall pregnant for ... 4 years now. Some normal.

I don't know if this is presumptuous or NO, but I'd like to be added to your list...

My blog is: www.theproblemwithhope.blogspot.com

and while I fit in many a category (pg loss, unexplained, medicated iui's, blah blah blah) I think I DO fit in best at the current time under Adoption (domestic), as we actually go for our first birthparent interview this week sometime!

And also an idea to throw out, though I don't have a clue in all of where-EVER how it'd be practical....a TTC Under 30 (or 25, but that may be too limiting) would be SO GREAT. We started our ttc journey at 20, and have obviously been at it aWHILE, but I know it's hard to relate a lot of times when you seem like the ONLY "kid" who can't accidentally get knocked up!

All that crap aside, take it or leave it....I love you blog and LOVE the idea of compliling all the blog links! WELL DONE!!

Thank you for solving the mystery of why I haven't had a cycle since September! (for no apparent reason)

It must be because of that stack of womanly products I have in my bag, ya know the just in case ones. I better remove them at once! Oh I think I might have a secret stash in my car too.
Ok ToDo list for tuesday: search and destroy all lingering tampons!

Congrats too on your 12 day luteal phase! Rest up!
