Dolphins Will Unite the World

Today, perhaps 200 feet or so off-shore, there were two families of dolphins, leaping out of the water, their dorsal fins almost always visible and sometimes a tail waving a spray of water in its wake.

And on the shore, regardless of race or religion or socio-economic standing or age or sexuality or culture, every single person dropped what they were doing and regardless of the fact that the people at the next beach blanket over had already shouted the same thing, each exclaimed "dolphins!" with the same excitement usually reserved for the gown winners at the Running of the Brides.

Which is pretty fucking cool.

To bond with complete strangers simply because dolphins exist.

Now if only we could get the entirety of the world to the eastern shore and make sure the dolphins are visible that day.

Dolphins are fascinating creatures. The last time I saw them was on my trip to my grandma's home.

I'd love to see one again in the wild.

I am oh-so-very jealous that you are withing spitting distance (but really, don't. spit.) of these majestic creatures.

How cool to see dolphins like that! I love times like those when everyone just stops what they're doing to marvel at something. Reminds me of an evening when the northern lights were being spectacular. Everyone in the town where I was working just sort of stopped what they were doing, headed outside and looked up.

Dolphins are a amazing site. When I was a teen, my father and I took a boat from one small island to another and we were followed by a school of dolphins. It was amazing!

That's super cool.

On my honeymoon, I swam with the dolphins. But I really wanted to swim to the gate and let them free into the ocean. "Caged" animals make me feel bad.

Have you ever read/seen Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Because right now, in my head, I'm singing "so long and thanks for all the fish..." :-)
