The 51st Circle Time: The Show and Tell Weekly Thread

Show and Tell is wasted on elementary schoolers. Join several dozen bloggers weekly to show off an item, tell a story, and get the attention of the class. In other words, this is Show and Tell 2.0. Everyone is welcome to join, even if you have never posted before and just found out about Show and Tell for the first time today. So yank out a photo of the worst bridesmaid's dress you ever wore and tell us the story; show off the homemade soup you cooked last night; or tell us all about the scarf you made for your first knitting project. Details on how to participate are located at the bottom of this post.

Let's begin.

Next weekend marks a full year of Show and Tell. I am open to any suggestions on how to celebrate.

A week or two ago, Josh needed a new cell phone and I tagged along. My cell phone is a piece of crap. First of all, I allowed the Wolvog to choose it which was my first mistake. It hasn't worked for months--most people who have tried to call me have either had it go to voice mail automatically (and I don't receive a message waiting beep) or they get to hear the inside of my purse for fifteen minutes or so until the battery dies. Which is a nice sound because the purse is made of some crinkly rip-stop material so they're treated to a whoosh whoosh whoosh, almost like being beneath my heart.

The store had a 2 for 1 deal going on, so we decided to take them up on it and get me a new phone. I do not know how to send a text message (and we have texting turned off on our service plan), but even better, it has email access! I can check email from the road. I mean, not as I'm driving, but as Josh is driving and I am sitting in the passanger seat. How cool is that? Technology is an amazing thing.

It is also a cheery red colour that I like and when you flip it open, it has a full key pad. I've only send a few emails from it because it's sort of annoying to type with your thumbs. But to know that I have email access on the road somehow fills me with joy.

Want to bring something to Show and Tell?
  • If you would like to join circle time and show something to the class, simply post each Saturday night (or earlier in the week or on Monday if you can't do the weekend), hopefully including a picture if possible, and telling us about your item. It can be anything--a photo from a trip, a picture of the dress you bought this week, a random image from an old yearbook showing a person you miss. It doesn't need to contain a picture if you can't get a picture--you can simply tell a story about a single item. The list opens every Saturday night and closes on Tuesday night.
  • You must mention Show and Tell and include a link back to this post in your post so people can find the rest of the class. This spreads new readership around through the list. This is now required.
  • Label your post "Show and Tell" each week and then come back here and add the permalink for the post via the Mr. Linky feature (not your blog's main url--use the permalink for your specific Show and Tell post).
  • Oh, and then the point is that you click through all of your classmates and see what they are showing this week. And everyone loves a good "ooooh" and "aaaah" and to be queen (or king) of the playground for five minutes so leave them a comment if you can.
  • Did you post a link and now it's missing?: I reserve the right to delete any links that are not leading to a Show and Tell post or are the blogging equivalent of a spitball.

Hey I have that same phone! It's a good phone, except for an unbelievably annoying defective battery problem that many people have experienced -- sometimes if the phone is off, you can't turn it on again. DH's phone access is more important so we switched batteries. He has a black and I have a red, so now we each have a hybrid color due to the mismatched batteries. It upsets his sense of order, but not as much as being unable to turn his phone on after he gets off a flight upsets his sense of AGHHHH!

Being unreachable means that DH is likely losing revenue, where as personally I'm usually kind of happy to be off the grid on the occasions when my phone won't work.

I loved having email on my phone! I don't anymore, but it was so fun. Plus, you can set up your blog so that you can now do mobile posts via email! Can you internet on it too?

It's nice to know the ALI community is only a red flip phone away at all times.

And, btw, I enjoyed the "purse symphony." Though the gum wrappers were a little out of tune.

I'm jealous. I'm still in the cell phone dark ages (I don't have one).

Cool new phone. I think it's the one they use on 90210 - the new version. Enjoy.

Nice phone. I was supposed to show and tell about my new black.berry tonight but The Storm proved to be named properly and I had no desire to try and learn how to use it. It got returned and I now have my old crappy phone that doesn't work either.

I am so glad to know that DH and I aren't the only ones in our generation who aren't texting. We get annoyed when our friends text us because it costs us money. I didn't realize you could turn it off?!?!

I LOVE that phone, congrats. You can't Twitter with it though, The phone company you have doe not get along with Twitter. I have the same service. I had the older version of that phone and loved it, now I have a touch screen and a full keyboard. It's just so much fun!

Congrat's on joining the modern age!

I had a crappy phone until a month or so ago. I finally had to replace it when it would no longer take a charge (and I accidentally ripped the plug thingy out while trying to 'make' it charge). I got a Blackberry, which I didn't know I needed until I got it. It has such fabulous internet and email that I can't remember life before it. In fact, I have horrible insomnia, and it's 1 am or so...and I'm laying in bed blog reading from my phone!

Congrats! I also recently got my 1st phone with a "QWERTY" keyboard. LOVE it! :)

I have been dying for a Crackberry or an IPhone or something that will let me check my email during the day. What kind of phone is that?

Thank you for dropping by, and for your sweet comment. Congratulations on the book! I must work on getting your image up (it could take a while ...)

VERY COOL! and very red! My cell phone is crappy too, but we are getting OUT when the contract is up in Aug because there is NO NO NO service in our tiny little town.

No show and tell for me this week. I'm in recoup mode.

So I read the instructions that I should use my blog name instead of my personal nickname when entering my Show & Tell into Mr. Linky... but alas that apparently did not process.

*sigh*

That phone looks really cool. I think being able to text and send email is so cool. Technology never ceases to amaze me. What did we do without all this fun stuff before, I can't remember.

OMG, we spent 1 1/2 hours in the store yesterday to get that phone (which changed into a Blackberry after 1 1/2 of browsing). After almost 2 hours I came out with NO NEW PHONE because I thought my contract was up in April and it was actually August...
