Let's begin.
Well, first and foremost, I changed the icon. I figured a new year of Show and Tell deserved an icon change.
But what I'm really showing and telling today are two purses that my siblings (and by my "siblings," I mean that my sister chose them and then included my brother and BIL) gave me this week. The amusing part was that I was with my mother and the Wolvog in the mall and I told him that we needed to stop by the store to buy a formal purse for an event I'm going to this week. My mother nervously told me not to do that and after arguing about it for a moment, gave me the box she had been carrying around. Great minds think alike--my siblings bought me two purses that could both go with my black sheath dress. Your thoughts on which one I should use?
Option B: a red, textured purse with sparkle added by beads.
I'm wearing a black sheath dress (with a small black cardigan in case it's cold), black heels, and pearls. I have a sense of which one would be better for the event, but I'm also collecting opinions since I love both purses equally and both are large enough to hold everything I need that night.
What are you showing today?
Click here or scroll down to the bottom of this post if this is your first time joining along (hint: link to the permalink for the post, not the main url for your blog and use your blog's name, not your name). The list is open from now until late Tuesday night and a new one is posted every week.
Other People Standing at the Head of the Class:
Want to bring something to Show and Tell?
- If you would like to join circle time and show something to the class, simply post each Saturday night (or earlier in the week or on Monday if you can't do the weekend), hopefully including a picture if possible, and telling us about your item. It can be anything--a photo from a trip, a picture of the dress you bought this week, a random image from an old yearbook showing a person you miss. It doesn't need to contain a picture if you can't get a picture--you can simply tell a story about a single item. The list opens every Saturday night and closes on Tuesday night.
- You must mention Show and Tell and include a link back to this post in your post so people can find the rest of the class. This spreads new readership around through the list. This is now required.
- Label your post "Show and Tell" each week and then come back here and add the permalink for the post via the Mr. Linky feature (not your blog's main url--use the permalink for your specific Show and Tell post).
- Oh, and then the point is that you click through all of your classmates and see what they are showing this week. And everyone loves a good "ooooh" and "aaaah" and to be queen (or king) of the playground for five minutes so leave them a comment if you can.
- Did you post a link and now it's missing?: I reserve the right to delete any links that are not leading to a Show and Tell post or are the blogging equivalent of a spitball.
- If you want it...
I've now placed a Show and Tell archive on the sidebar that will be updated each week in case you miss it. And click here for the icon code if you wish to have it for your blog. It links to the archives.

I vote for the red... (but then red always wins out for me) Both are beautiful!
I love them both, but the black one is an inch ahead (if you could measure purse-love with a yardstick).
I vote for the red. It will add a gorgeous splash of color.
I am loving the red, the clutch bag will get lost with all the black.
Well now, I don't know if I'm the fashonista type...actually I know I'm not - but I like red.
I would TOTALLY go with the red one. You are wearing all black- the red will be your accent color. AWESOME purses. How totally cool that they got them for you!
I vote vote red, for a pop of color. I LOVE the black one though.
I love both but a punch of red would spice up the outfit.
I will be wearing a black dress, red cardigan and red shoes. (so you know what to look for on tuesday)
With the black dress, black sweater and black heels - the red bag would really PoP! All black - safe, even though that clutch is simply TDF!
Wow - I love them both. I would be finding another occasion to wear the other one to . . . :0)
But red, definitely red - it will bring you attention in a favorable way!
Love them both! Two reasons I'd choose the red. One, according to Nathan Lane in The Birdcage, one does want a hint of color. Two, it looks like the red one has a little strap which you could wear on your wrist, thus enabling you to shake hands with one hand and hold your drink/food in the other. You know me and my people -- we're concerned about the food.
I really love the red bag. A splash of color and maybe some red lipstick would be awesome.
The red one!
Although, the black clutch is tres chic, as well.
I say use the red one! I love a bit of color with an all (or mostly) black outfit. You're right, both are super cute, though!
Just as a purse, I prefer the black, but I think I have to go with the group here and agree that the red would probably make a better choice. They're both amazing, though.
Eh, take 'em both. Leave one in the car, and switch off halfway through the night!
I think the red would be a good accent.
Then, I think you should get a nice floaty dress in blues and greens (think Monet and Water Lilies), and take the black one out for a spin somewhere. Date with husband?
I vote for black - black with black right?
OOOOh...both the purses are total sizzlers!
I was stuck on the red one...my kind of a purse....but if it is a very formal event to which you are going, I would suggest you to take the black one!
The red one is more 'spiced' up, and is better for semi-formal/casual events...but the black is a total clincher for a formal do!
Have fun!
They are both gorgeous!! But I'm going to go with the Red Team, I love the bold color with the black dress.
I just posted my show and tell... it's red too! :)
Well, I think the black one will go better with the black dress. The red one is beautiful, but the red purse will garner all the attention if you wear it with your black dress, and you really want the attention to be on you, not your accessories!
I'm on the theme of color too, except mine isn't quite what you think:
Purple Gorilla
I vote for the red one! It will add some drama and a splash color.
Red red red. Wearing black with a splash of color elsewhere looks more fantastic, and will catch more eyes and compliments. Everyone does black with black. Be bold, be red!
Red, all the way.
Handles are handy, and it's good to have a little color somewhere in the outfit. Save the black for an event when you're wearing bright color elsewhere such as dress or shoes.
Oo, oo. I love the red one. And I'm not a red girl. But that purse is fabulous.
I am not a fashionista at all-- in fact, I'm probably a what not to wear candidate!
They are both lovely and I'm sure both will look great with your dress!
What a nice gift! I would go with the black one. Unless you're wearing a healthy dose of white, too, I think a red accessory is too jarring with black. I must admit a bias against red and black together. It reminds me of Frederick's of Hollywood trashy lingerie.
I'm also a lover of red, but I really adore the feathers on the black clutch. I think I'd have to go with that one. But it's such a close call, either would look great I'm sure!
I am also with the camp that thinks the red purse would look fantastic with an all black outfit.
But I love the black purse, I'm a sucker for anything with feathers or fringe!
Definitely the feathers, wow too too sexy! I know all black and the black purse, but trust me it is the one!
I love the new Show and Tell icon by the way, really cute! But it is not in the code, the new icon, i got it though, you should update as it is really really cute!
Man...way to hard to decide...Okay! I know. Take the red one and then I'll come and borrow the black one that way both get to go to the event! :-)
Hope you have a lovely time.
Okay...now you have to totally reveal what you did choose and take to the event!
Both are lovely, but I'm putting my vote with the RED!
Well, I know I should say red (since the rest of the outfit is black) but I like the black one a lot!
